4 Fun Crafts For Kids

Crafting with kids can be the perfect way to spend a rainy inside without any complaint from the little ones. With so many inexpensive crafts out there parents can use craft days to make toys and save money not buying them from department stores. Magnetic fish toys, rock dominos, juice lid picture frames, and home made drums can all be made easily and last for a long forever.

To make a magnet fish toy all you need is card stock, magnets, glue, a "pole" and string. Use the card stock to cut out colorful fish. Next, glue small magnets to their mouths. Tie your string or twine to the end of your make-shift fishing pole (a straight hanger, doll rod, etc). Glue another magnet to the end of the fishing line. The children can then pretend to fish in an in door pond.

On a sunny day have children collect small and smooth rocks or stones and save them for a rainy afternoon. Pull them out on a cranky day and have them paint dots to look like dominoes with the numbers 1-6. Once your rocks dry you have a new domino set to play with!

Another fun craft that repurposes juice bottles is too make magnetic picture frames from the caps. Clean and rinse the caps to remove any chance of smell. Have the children color and decorate the caps however they choose. Cut small pictures out an glue them in the center of the caps. Add a magnet to the back with hot glue and voila! You will have greats magnets for your own home and some for gifts for grandparents!

For a musical adventure an old can, can be repurposed. An oatmeal tin will work if you have one on hand. Have kids decorate the outside with colored paper and stickers. Top the top back on and have a blast playing the drums. If you'd like to change it up, you can add either rice or beans and turn your drum into a shaker to move with the beat!

CD spinners can be a great craft too! Take old CDs and decorate them to your hearts desire. Flex those creativity muscles! Next, glue a large marble or round ball to the bottom of the CD. Once dry, flip it over and add a bottle cap or handle to the other side. Try to make sure the handle is directly over the marble. Once balanced the CD becomes a great spinning top!

Crafts for kids give them something to do on a rainy day as well as something to use their imagination and creativity. Fostering the desire to create art and exercise their minds will only open them to more possibilities as later in life!
